Kaaz Limited-Slip Differential(LSD) – 240SX S13 S14 / 300ZX Z32 (Non Turbo) / Skyline R32 – R200

Includes a bottle of Kaaz LSD fluid for break in.

Kaaz Limited Slip Differential (LSD) is the choice differential for drifting, road racing, autocross/gymkhana, drag racing, spirited driving, and any other forms of motorsport. Kaaz LSDs react fast without fail to provide much needed traction to the wheels when cornering and accelerating. Kaaz Differentials are designed w/ the largest and most number of friction plates to increase drivetrain response and reliability under harsh driving conditions. With Kaaz Limited Slip Differentials, you get the following advantages:

  • Kaaz LSD will work when the slightest torque is applied inceasing drivetrain feedback.
  • Better transfer of power from the engine to the drivedrain with minimal loss of power.
  • Plate Abrasions are reduced by spreading power to more surface area on the bigger plates.
  • Increased number of friction plates to greatly improve abrasion efficiency and heat capacities.
  • All parts on the LSD have been made larger, so the overall strength of the main body is increased.

These features show Kaaz LSD’s perfect efficiency by design, resulting in a durable and long lasting differential and furthermore provides heightened sense of control for the driver. Installation of LSD unit by a professional is suggested however many mechanically inclined people do self-install using the proper tools. Proper break in for the LSD is very important. Please read manually carefully before installation and break in.

The New KAAZ SUPERQ L.S.D. is the ultimate clutch type performance differential. Using the same leading technology that kept the KAAZ Limited Slip Differential name iconic… The new SUPERQ units feature more newly developed technology! In today’s market enthusiast want the best of both worlds, full race and street comfort ability. Although some situations can only provide one factor over the other, SUPERQ units bring the gap closer in terms of performance and drive ability. All KAAZ LSD’s feature the best locking ratio’s with lightning fast reaction engagement and reaction. KAAZ is also the pioneer of being the first to use “LARGE CLUTCH DISCS” in an mechanical limited slip differential. Providing units that are already a step ahead against the competiton. The SUPERQ units set a new bench mark within mechanical/clutch type after market performance clutch type L.S.D.’s! As always with KAAZ Limited Slip Differentials…improve your driving, lap times, drifting and overall performance with a KAAZ COMPETITION L.S.D.!
A key element in making the SUPERQ L.S.D. unique is: chattering sounds are down to a bare minimal! This makes the unit much more street and everyday friendly, AT HALF THE COST OF OTHER MORE EXPENSIVE “CARBON” L.S.D’s!
Experience smoother engagement during driving! SuperQ units are designed to provide more comfortability without compromising performance characteristics. This new feature is available now due to new internal metal treatments processed before final assembly
All SuperQ units have improved heat dissipation over standard LSD’s. With special internal surface treatments the new SuperQ LSD offer’s significant drop in operating temperatures when compared to standard metal type LSD’s.
Typically overhauls are recommended for race cars frequently however the SuperQ L.S.D. has a typical longer life-wear than standard  mechanical L.S.D’s. If changing differential oil responsibly the new SuperQ units have a average extended 20-50% more life expectancy! Whether it be usage on a full race or street applied vehicle, this new unit will outlast any standard metal type L.S.D!
No need to break in your unit after installation! Another key feature for those whom install and work from home. SuperQ units have special treated clutch plates which feature smooth hardened clutch plate surfaces which require no break-in procedures!
As standard to all KAAZ Limited Slip Differentials you can adjust locking raties to your desired spec. The SuperQ units carry same revolutionary adjustment setting options that come standard on most KAAZ Limited Slip Differentials! Optional parts are available as well, you can purchase thicker cone-springs and clutch plates to adjust initial torque specs.
 Normal/OEM differentials
It is more then likely that your OEM factory differential may have been designed primarily for regular city/highway driving. Most factory differentials are not designed for “sport” or “race” usage, therefore the design element caters more to basic function than performance application. On every car a basic differential is fitted to distribute the engine’s power to the driving wheels, the basic differential gear supplies the power to the wheels which is loaded with the least resistance. This allows the car’s wheels to run at different speeds in a turn with least resistance.
However, when a vehicle is cornering close to it’s limit, the vehicle will exhibit body roll causing the vehicle to  lean to one side, which will translate into the inside tire(s) losing forward traction and lateral grip. The wheels lift and cause excessive spin due to lack of downward force or weight distribution. This wheel spin is useless for acceleration until the tire(s) regain traction and start to gradually translate the power to the ground. A Limited Slip Differential (LSD) is needed to alleviate this wheel-spin.
With racing or performance driving, your vehicle may demand more then what a factory differential is capable of providing. More traction, stability, quicker reaction times and higher cornering speeds are key factors in which improve your vehicles characteristics on the track. A KAAZ after market Limited Slip Differential designed to cater around these needs will come handy and prove as a vital component on your vehicle.
Limited Slip Differential
An LSD is constructed slightly similar to the normal differential.
The pressure plate rings have the side gear, the pinion and the pinion gears locked inside and behind each pressure rings are a number of clutch plates. When torque is applied to the differential, the differential case will rotate and throw the pinion into the pressure ring cam. The pressure ring is then pushed out against the clutch plates thereby squeezing them together. This in turn causes the wheels to  lock together, depending on the power applied. This effect limits wheel spin during hard cornering and applies power to the wheels evenly when more power is applied. On acceleration and deceleration, it provides even grip and on neutral power, it also free’s up for less drag and easier turning.
Limited Slip Differential Configuration Types
KAAZ produces two configuration types commonly classified as 1.5 way or a 2 way. This designation reflects the design of the cam groove which enables the LSD to function differently under acceleration/deceleration loads. The 2 way is constructed in a way to have positive lock motion in both acceleration and deceleration mode, the 1.5 way functions similar to a 2 way under acceleration however provides less lock-up when decelerating. The 1.5 way may provide more forgiving balance depending on vehicle setup and driver skill when braking is compared to a 2 way setup. For Front Wheel Drive vehicles the 1.5 way is also very effective providing extra stability during braking.
1.5 Way
Typically the 1.5 way differential is suitable for all types of motorsports driving. With optimized performance during acceleration it carries a lighter lockup on deceleration which is best suited for traditional road racers. Despite the fact that 1.5 way units have slighter lock up on deceleration, many users may still use this cam type for aggressive motorsports such like drifting or low gear auto crossing & gymkhana.
2.0 Way
The 2 way is beneficial for high speed tracks and drifting. During R&D the more aggressive drivers preferred the 2 way over the 1.5 way L.S.D. due to better stability during high speed cornering. The 2 way L.S.D. provides great control during late-breaking scenarios where the vehicle is actually slowed down during the apex rather then traditional braking which is applied before entering or during the apex. For drifting the 2 way is most beneficial for shift locking and very aggressive transitions. The 2 way lsd is designed to keep the rear in sideways motion even during shifting. Most commonly users have preferred the 2 way L.S.D. over the 1.5 way for drifting.
